Paper points are paper cones used during endodontic therapy to dry or apply substances in the root canal.
Drying the root canal after irrigation prior to filling is a mandatory step of endodontic treatment. Residual moisture or solutions in the root canal can be detrimental to successful obturation. Paper markers meet these requirements because they are highly absorbent and have an accurate size of tip and taper.
The complete range of PD Paper points includes 28mm long ISO standardized points with a taper of 2% (0.02), 4% (0.04) or 6% (0.06). The different taper allows a precise fit on the prepared root canal, depending on the instruments used. Each ISO standard tip is color coded for easier identification and features precise depth markings for precise insertion at the desired length (markings at 16mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 22mm and 24mm).
In addition to the ISO standardized points, conventional paper points are also available. They are 28 mm long and have a wider conical shape than the ISO sizes to allow the duct to dry more conically.
